Why Choose Riverside?

UCR has a beautifully scenic and park-like campus that is within a short driving distance from all Southern California attractions.  Our recent graduates have found careers at companies including IBM, AT&T, Google, Intel, Microsoft, Qualcomm, ESRI, and eBay and faculty positions including UC Irvine, University of Massachusetts, Case Western Reserve University, George Mason University, Florida Atlantic University, University of Arizona and Northeastern University.

Google Day - After hiring many of our graduate students over the last few years, Google decided to further their relationship with CSE @ UCR and directly concentrate on recruiting more of our students, in an event nicknamed Google Day.  They visit annually and provide a direct recruiting pipeline with our program, along with many employment and research opportunities. Check-out some pictures of the event. Google Day is held in the fall quarter, other workshops and campus visits are held in the winter quarter, and hiring decisions for the summer/end of academic year are typically made in the spring quarter.

Microsoft Tech Talks - After recently hiring impressive CSE graduate students, Microsoft has also decided to partner with CSE @ UCR to focus more energy on actively recruiting our M.S. and Ph.D. students. They currently provide exclusive employment opportunities for both internship and full-time candidates, for summer and post-graduation. The first 'Microsoft Tech Talk' took place on Friday, October 10, 2008 and was a huge success. We have welcomed them back to our campus several times since then, and frequently host Microsoft for mock interview and information sessions, new product introductions (to include great prizes from Microsoft) and other seminars designed to better prepare our students for industry success.

UCR has recently been reported on the US News and World Report 'Best Colleges: Up-and-Coming National Universities' List. According to US News and World Report, "College presidents, provosts, and admissions deans were asked to nominate up to 10 colleges in their U.S. News America's Best Colleges ranking category "that are making improvements in academics, faculty, students, campus life, diversity, and facilities. These schools are worth watching because they are making promising and innovative changes. This item on the peer survey enabled college officials to pick schools within their ranking category that are rapidly evolving in ways that the public should be aware of and that are not always quickly noticeable in a college's year-to-year rankings."

The Financial Engineer (TFE) Times’ 2016 Master of Computer Science Rankings are the most comprehensive rankings for graduate computer science programs in the United States. TFE Times ranked the UCR Master of Computer Science program 37th out of 240+ programs.  The new TFE ranking lists us ahead of many competitive schools (including other UC counterparts) that have much larger programs. https://tfetimes.com/2016-computer-science-rankings/.
