Employment Information

Teaching Assistant (TA)

Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CEN), Computational Data Science (CDS), and Robotics graduate students can apply for a TA position in the Computer Science and Engineering Department (CSE) on a quarterly basis. Computer Science PhD students have priority for any available TA position and only a few positions are available for our master's students.

An email with instructions on how to apply is sent to students after registration opens each quarter.  Our TA system is only open to CS, CEN, CDS, and Robotocs students to apply; therefore, students from different majors cannot submit an application.

Incoming CS and CEN master’s students can apply for a TA position starting in their second quarter in the program.  BS+MS students are considered continuing students and can submit the TA application in the first quarter they enroll as graduate students.

The Computer Science and Engineering Department does not hire students from other majors. These students should contact their home department and inquire about TA opportunities.

Graduate Student Researcher (GSR)

Computer Science PhD students with a financial support offers including research assistanships are hired as a GSR by their faculty advisor on a quarterly basis. If a faculty seeks to hire a GSR, he/she will make employment arrangements directly with the student.

The CSE Department does not have positions available for other students to apply.
