Google has just announced that Dr. Eamonn Keogh will be awarded a Faculty Research Award for 2019. The award, for $53K, will support Dr. Keogh's students. The project is on "Natural Language Search and Data Mining for Time Series Data", and is based on work by Dr. Keogh's student, Shima Imani. The project seeks to build natural languages interfaces, that will allow a user to "google" a time series. For example, a user may wish to ask "Find me all heartbeats, in which the Q-wave is higher than the S-wave, and the T-wave is unusually long". This is the second Google Faculty Research Award for Dr. Keogh, he also won one in 2009.
