Each year, on one morning before dawn in January, volunteers around
the country conduct the annual Point-in-Time Count, a census snapshot
of sorts mandated by HUD. For the first time, UCR's BCOE has partnered
with the County of Riverside to provide the data analytics and
visualization platform for the 2019 PIT Count. Undergraduates from
Computer Science and Electrical Engineering developed a data
transformation pipeline and interactive dashboard visualization tool
to navigate this data, which is being released publicly in April.
Students are gearing up to expand to San Bernardino, Orange and San
Diego next year. Work is conducted under the guidance of professor
Paea LePendu.
