Vassilis Tsotras and Ahmed Eldawy, professors of computer science and engineering will receive $860,000 as a part of a $2 Million grant from NSF to enrich AsterixDB in collaboration with UCI. AsterixDB is an Apache open source project developed by UCR and UCI over the past 10 years. This new project will enable a variety of enhancements, including improved text handing and query processing, additional standard-based geospatial data support, new user-defined function support for user-provided logic, and upgraded system storage and indexing capabilities.
