CSE PhD students Kittipat Apicharttrisorn and Xukan Ran, working with
CSE Professors Jiasi Chen and Srikanth Krishnamurthy, and Prof. Amit
Roy-Chowdhury (ECE), were finalists for the best paper award at ACM
SenSys. In their paper entitled "Frugal Following: Power Thrifty Object
Detection and Tracking for Mobile Augmented Reality", they developed
energy-saving mechanisms for augmented reality with deep learning on
mobile devices, leading to improved longevity for future augmented
reality applications.
