Google has just announced that Prof. Manu Sridharan will receive a Faculty Research Award for 2019-2020. The project, "Practical Pluggable Type Introduction," aims to devise techniques to automatically migrate existing code to use pluggable type systems, a proven technique for preventing common bugs like null-pointer dereferences at an industrial scale. Though automating much of the adoption process for pluggable type systems, the project aims to significantly improve software quality and maintainability.
