CSE Ph.D. Student Aditya Dhakal and Professor K. K. Ramakrishnan together with their collaborator Dr. Sameer Kulkarni (IIT Gandhinagar, until recently also at UCR as a post-doctoral fellow) received the Best Student Paper award at the 9th IEEE International Conference on Cloud Networking. In their paper titled "ECML: Improving Efficiency of Machine Learning in Edge Clouds", they design a machine learning platform that spatially shares a GPU cluster among multiple applications. ECML increases the GPU cluster's utilization, allowing users to run more applications in resource-constrained edge clouds. This work was done with support from the U.S. National Science Foundation.
