High-performance numerical solvers for scalable and flexible simulation on modern hardware

CSE professor Craig Schroeder received the UC Multicampus Research Programs and Initiatives (MRPI), along with collaborators from UCLA and UC Davis, for the project "High-performance numerical solvers for scalable and flexible simulation on modern hardware."  This project aims to unify the state of the art in numerical linear and nonlinear solvers under a single open-source library optimized from the ground up to solve the types of problems that routinely arise when simulating the laws of physics on modern hardware.  The library will have applications in engineering, science, and computer graphics applications for simulating everyday phenomena like solids, fluids, sand, or heat flow.
