Silas Richelson is an assistant professor of computer science and engineering who studies theoretical computer science, cryptography, and security. His research aims to improve wireless communication, both by making it robust to errors introduced by "channel chaos" and by securing it against adversarial attacks. Simply put, he just wants to help Alice communicate with Bob. His CAREER project will explore the subtle connection between the mathematical discipline "pseudorandomness" and "codes", which are the main gadgets which enable error-free communication across a noisy channel. The broad goal of the work is to design better communication protocols.
